Nico Muhly is one of the most significant composers of our age. He wrote Shrink, concerto for violin and string orchestra, specifically for the deft hands of violinist Pekka Kuusisto, who played the world premiere in Melbourne in 2019, and presents the world premiere recording together with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, for which he serves as Artistic Director. The concerto literally ‘shrinks’ as it proceeds, each of its three movements concerned with intervals of decreasing size, and characterized by a gradual increase of focus and expression.
